Will 2.1 card work?

I have an old http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131616&cm_re=P5G41T-M-_-13-131-616-_-Product motherboard and was wondering if amd's pci-e 2.1 cards will work in the 1.0 slot. I know it is supposed to be backwards compatible ,but I am unsure if they support the 2.1 cards as the manufacturer would have to allow that.

You shouldn't have any issues with that board. The boards that have issues with 2.1 cards tend to be much older then that. Or OEM boards where they never updated the bios to handle 2.1. G41 should be new enough. If its not, toss in an old PCI card and update the bios.

Also when 600 series/ 7000 series comes out will they be pci-e 3.0 and will I be able to use those cards on my mobo?

Some motherboards with PCI-e 1.x slots have issues with PCI-e 2.1 cards. Some don't. Check Asus' site for BIOS updates that may address that issue.

PCI-e 3.0 card in a PCI-e 1.x slot? Doubtful.
