Depends on the resolution and which card you are talking about.

A 5770@1680x1050 will run it pretty well at medium settings, might pull off settings on high. A 5750@2560x1600? Not so much.

Check benchmarks on the 5770 for the original crysis, if the frame rate on that is acceptable for you, get it. It will run Crysis 2 with a better framerate considering the lower requirements.

Crysis 2 on low still looks 3 times better than console.

Yeah I agree it still looks very good on low.

I have 5770 and play crysis on 1680x1050 pretty good. And i have acceptable frame rates.

PC games must be dumbed down enough to run on 5 year old consoles so almost anything newer than 5 years will run the game but probably not with full effects.

Don't forget that Crysis 2 is rendered at 720p on the console and is then stretched to fill a 1080p HDTV.

I love the way you spelled Crysis in the title!

OT: 5770 should be enough.

Crysis 2 does not have 'low' presets. they only have high, very high and extreme plus the new Ultra preset coming with the latest patch.

The high setting is their lowest and crappiest setting.

honestly i don't understand why they don't call the the lowest setting as 'low'. to me it does't make sense at all to call your lowest setting as high. maybe they called it as high since the are no noticeable graphical changes between the presets (before 1.9 patch) other than frame rates

GTX 275 1792 MB overclocked
INTEL CORE I7 870 OCED 4ghz
6GB DDR3 1600 MHZ
550 W PSU

Maxed out crysis 2 on ultra settings even with the latest high resolution textures turned on.I think its because of my cpu because my i7 is showing 98% usage on all 8 cores hyperthreading turned on

there are some minor differences but for the most part they are same. The fps drop between high and ultra is HUGE considering that the image quality iimprovemnt is negligible. In crysis warhead the difference between high and very high was so great that inspite of low frame rates I tolerated them because the Image was PHOTO REALISTIC.Crysis 2 looks the same so I just don't have any reason to explain the fps loss.In any case my performance is pretty good even on max so I keep it that way :sol:
@OP-Try dxtory and limit your fps to 30.I tried it out and crysis 2 becomes smoother when fps is limited

heard before that the game should be able to utilize extra cpu core more nicely though the performance still considered as fine even with dual core

For example we compared the 460 to a 5850... But the 460 vs 5850 it was a COD4 benchmark so it it INEFFECTIVE info. I swear he needs to be banned for lying he has no idea what he is talking about. I know a 5850 beats a 460 by geforce. And don't say you didn't

I guess G3D, Anand's and HWC are also biased.

So you know something these guys don't right?

It's been in 3 threads now that browsingtheworld has been arguing with everyone about unrelated stuff, defending the honor of the gtx 460, and not helping the OP in the slightest.

The OP already has his answer, so how is the reviews of the gtx 460 related in any way whatsoever?

Reply to bluesc

Just ban him moderator he says a superclock 460 is faster than a STOCK clocked 5850 of course it is but I KNOW for a fact a 5850 overclocked is WAY faster than a 460 superclocked. And it's not hard to OC a 5850, dude stop spamming or just leave the fourm. Plus a 5850 has much more features because it is a HIGH end card. Oh and let me guess a 460 is as fast as a ati 6970 to?

I just wanted to illustrate the lack of knowledge addison has to demonstrate how his advice should not be taken seriously.

But you keep on contributing. I already gave him a quick answer anyways.

Wait please explain to me know the 5850 is a high end card while the 460 is not. :pt1cable:

http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews [...] GB/34.html
The 460 is slightly slower than a 5870 when overclocked.
http://www.techspot.com/review/206 [...] age12.html
The 5850 is also slightly slower than a 5870 when overclocked.

It's hard to believe you know much of anything.

Reply to browsingtheworld

Yet who is the fanboy that says all the pros about the 460 then when the person buys it they find out it's a piece of junk because you give them a SOC card = shorter life plus overclocking a video card is bad. But be a fan boy why not troll the ati fourm and not this one.

How many people use the 460 for gaming, like none, everyone uses ati because you get better fps, who cares if it a longer load because you get like more fps than a 460 could on a quick load. Also do you even have the 460 SOC or is that another thing you want you'll never get. So you protect it but you probaly don't have it for your very self.

Sorry I left off eyefinity and better OGL support :sarcastic:

So can you please explain why these forums have an overclocking section if overclocking is bad?

Reply to browsingtheworld

Didn't you just post that in another thread (cough cough) Amd system upgrade (600 - 700$) ? Now your spamming that's a ban, there is a OC section but a lot of it is for CPU very little Gpu.

You just made my day.

Hey guys did you hear? The games load faster on with nvidia cards!

But yeah nobody uses nvidia cards... That whole selling 30% more video cards than AMD is a fluke...

Smiley spam. Yet I heard Nivida cards have crap software over heat, there FPS suck. Dude 6990 is top line better than NIVIDA last year the ati 5000 series DESTROYED NIVIDA no body bought there cards because the 5750- 5870 were awesome. Even th 295 was worse than 5870 ati is still better because there not making cards every month but relasing new series and making best GPU'S they can for players. A 6990 and 590 are matched but 6990 gets better frames in most games and runs cooler bit noiser though.

You must hear a lot of things. Apparently you don't hear grammatically correct sentences.

Last time I checked nvidia has better driver support and the 6970 competes with the GTX 570, nvidia's second fastest single GPU card. The GTX 580 is significantly faster than the 6970.

I think I've already established that the 460 can match the performance of a 5850.

Reply to browsingtheworld

if youre be talking about overclocking your videocards, then go to the overclockers forums. what are you doing here?

Reply to computernugget

^+1 Yeah go troll somewhere else since you love nivida and trolling how about the ati fourms.

Reply to Addison

And no a 5850 doesn't compete with a 460. Because all the bench mark you posted are SOC or the 5850 not overclocked or have a COD4 benchmark, I bet you Trollingtheworld is 10. Do you even have your very own 460 SOC?

I already showed the overclocked 460 is slightly slower than the 5870 and the overclocked 5850 is also slightly slower than the 5870. This was from 4 different review sites: TPU, Anand's, G3D and HWC. Therefore the overclocked 460 will have roughly the same performance as the overclocked 5850.

You're not just missing grammar but logic too.

Just STOP. NO MORE ABOUT THE 460 READ THE THREAD NAME AND LEAVE THIS THREAD. CONVERSATION IS OVER.

This one is going off topic, and since some people on this thread seem to be trolling rather than helping (i'm not just talking about one person either), I'm locking this thread. My apologies to the OP if you have not received a satisfactory answer yet.

If browsingtheworld, addison, ComputerNugget, and bluesc would care to take this up with me via PM, I would be more than happy to accommodate. Some of you have made some accusations about another poster's content being intentionally false. If you would care to cite specific examples of this via PM with me... I will gladly take a look.

Be aware that if any public smear campaigns are started, those responsible will be removed from the forums. But then... you guys wouldn't do that, would you?
