Remember how in win98 if an icon was selected, and you
clicked some where else in the window... the previously
selected icon would have a small dotted line border around
it? Is there a way to do that in XP?

Right click the Desktop and select Properties/Apprearance tab/Effects
button. Remove the check mark from the Hide Underlined Letters option.
