Yeah...we need to get back to our roots, the foundational principles
upon which this great land was built, like killing some good ole
American Indians and keeping negro slaves for all the free, white,
land-owning adults. Ya know, a few poor, white-trash share-croppers
are always handy to have around. And while you're at it, keep the
women pregnant and the kids quiet!
And for God's sake, whatever you do...DO NOT ALLOW THE WOMEN TO VOTE!
They always screw everything up, getting so emotional and voting so
illogically...like electing Bill Clinton twice!!!

So what?

Also irrelevant. (Nor do those lines scan.)
Free Hint: Look again at the word
"matrimony". (Compare its meaning to its
masculine counterpart "patrimony".)
"Matrimony" is a cultural means of tying
the earnings of a man to the support of
a woman. In the case of two men there
is no woman to support, thus no social
purpose beyond the existing relationship
formalizations already available to a pair
of men is served. In the case of two
women, there is no man to support
either of the women, so again there is
no purpose served by their wedding
each other.

"Some wrong???"
My ancestors were banned from the state of Georgia...where some of
them had lived for generations. Then they were "walked" from their
beautiful home-lands, the Appalachian mountains, walked from North
Carolina, from Georgia and East Tennessee...walked...across three
states and those who were still alive were deposited into the city
dump...er...a government "reservation" and told that was "God's will"
for them. Oh yeah...their home-lands were stolen by Christian
soldiers, also representing God's will, and sold/given to white men,
never to be back in their posession again.
Nah, we don't have to trash all of our society. But the real
incidents of history is usually white-washed over and the horrors of
what our so-called "Christian," slave-holding, selfish, barbaric
founding fathers did to this country are always minimalized and
usually covered up. The truth is rarely taught in government
sponsored schools.

but it's already been proven by those wacky and crazy studies called medical and
psychological science that environment has nothing to do with a person's sexual
orientation. nothing. this has been proven. millions of times. there are studies
and precedents and evidence that prove this. tons of it. mountains of it. you
can ski down such mountains. all day long, and take the lift back up to the top
of such evidence, and ski down it again. all day long. we can build casinos and

a fantastic boost to the economy. think of the jobs it will create.

Chuck,
That doesn't answer the question, which is about Holy Matrimony.
To speak from an Anglican Christian viewpoint (there will be others,
but the use of those words is directly relevant to the rites of the
Anglican church) I would look at the purposes of marriage. The
introduction to the marriage service makes it very clear that the first
objective of marriage is the procreation of children.
Homosexuals cannot procreate.
That is one very good reason why two men shouldn't be united in Holy
Matrimony.

j r sherman,
So you're at it again. Your logic fails so you resort to insults.
That's sad.
As you don't appear to have read and/or understood the question that
this debate is about, and which is clearly displayed at the top of this
thread, I'll paste it here verbatim: "Give ONE good reason why 2 men
shouldn't be united in holy matrimony".
Holy Matrimony. Not civil marriage, or any other lay ceremony which a
country's democratic process might open to allcomers. The question is
about Holy Matrimony. Holy Matrimony, got it?
Holy Matrimony is a rite of the church. The rules of the church say it
is for husband and wife. Now you may not like that, but it's like the
rules of a club. If you don't like the rules find another club whose
rules you do like.
