Well it looks like my thread was lost or something... I never got a chance to read what 13thmonkey responded with.

what does 1156 and 1366 sockets are dead sockets mean?
the i5 2500k is faster than the i7 950? i thought all i7's were faster than i5's
i'll go with the gtx 570 then :)
and did you mean i7 2600k instead of the 950? the 2600k has 8 threads and the 2500k only has 4, dont the threads make a difference in speed?

thats the last post i did pretty much just hoping you could answer again if you did already, i cant find my post in the forum for some reason...

well sandybridge-e has just been released so socket 2011 will be the way to go for the near future

no not all i7 are faster as you now have the original i7--the sandybridge i7 and the sandybridge-e i7 to deal with--so some i5 could be faster than older generation i7

threads dont make a difference in clock speed--only if you use software that takes advantage of multithreading would 8 threads be faster than 4--not many softwares do and even less games do--so for the price difference unless you really need 8 threads for cad or heavy video rendering etc the 2500k is the way to go

and dont know what your question about gtx570 was so cant answer that one

Thanks for your input :)

the thread was directed toward 13thmonkey, I replied to his message earlier, but never got a chance to see his reply, now the thread is gone for some reason...

and i dont understand the dead socket thing still, did the 1155 socket just come out? if so i was under the impression that the higher the number the newer and better it was...

if right now software doesnt take advantage of the extra threads then they may in the future right? so the i7 2600k might be a better investment in the long run?
