I have a very old processor, and by very old, I mean VERY old. It's a 2004 Sempron Processor, and it's the Socket 754. I read somewhere that the AM3 and the AM3+ are compatible with all the previous AMD sockets, so I was wondering if it was true. Can I really buy an AM3 board and strap on my Sempron onto it???

Nope. Have a look at the "Compatibility" section here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socket_AM3

If it breaks compatibility with the nearly identical AM2/AM2+ CPU's (in terms of pins), it certainly wouldn't work with a Socket 754 CPU.
