HIS 6850 not being recognized at all

Hello,
I just bought a HIS 6850 1GB to replace my 9800GT. I wiped all the old drivers off, disabled the onboard video, installed AMD's latest drivers and shut it down. I install the card. Boot it up. Nothing appears on the monitor. I check and the fan is working. I have the 6 pin connector in right. It's an OCZ Fatal1ty 550W PSU so I know it's getting enough power. I only have an e5200 C2D processor (which I am upgrading really soon). The motherboard was a custom Gateway one for this PC.

After it did not work, I used onboard video to check the device manager and it shows NO other device except for the onboard in the display devices. I would think it would recognize the card's presence like it did for my 9800GT when I installed it. Any suggestions or ideas?

OCZ Fatal1ty 550W
Samsung 500 GB HDD
LITE-ON DVD-R/RW 24x

It absolutely should recognize the card's presence unless your motherboard has some PCIe slot on/off switch you tripped and haven't told us about.

Bad card. Exchange it while you can.

try it in another machine to rule it out, if its the same send it back
