Do SOC processor have ram?

Do they have integrated ram inside like they have integrated GPU and other stuff inside? Like for example, when a tablet has 1GB ram is that 1GB of ram integrated on the SOC or it is separated and resides on the mainboard?

The only memory I would guess the physical processor will have available will be the cache memory, which is only a few MB and reduces in size as the levels rise and it gets faster. Normal RAM will reside on the board separate from the chip as it's not only used by the chip, but by all other systems on board to function properly.

I'm not at all experienced in this, so I may very well be wrong, this is just my guess

EDIT: Seems I was wrong. It can very easily incorporate ROM, RAM and flash-based storage as well.
