Post that question on <A HREF="http://www.digitalvideoediting.com/Htm/DVEditHomeSet1.htm" target="_new">http://www.digitalvideoediting.com/Htm/DVEditHomeSet1.htm</A>

I would be curious for the answer.

If they are DV cameras, I'm pretty sure it is the actual enhanced mode. But don't take that as gospel. The only way to really tell is to record in 16X9 enhanced and play back to a TV that does not support 16X9. If the image fills the entire screen (everybody appears tall and skinny), it's true 16X9. If it appears on the screen correctly formatted, it's matted.

Come to think of it, go to a place like Circuit City that has the television monitors hooked up to the camera. Switch between 4:3 and 16X9 there and see how it shows up on the monitor. That should answer the question right there.

My first computer was a Packard Bell. I'm glad it was a Packard Bell. It taught me a lot about computers. Specifically, how NOT to build a computer.
