More about upgrade phenom
  1. Something tells me that your mobo will only support 95w CPUs, struggling to get confirmation on that though.

So play it safe and buy one of these
    http://www.scan.co.uk/products/amd-phenom-ii-x4-960t-black-edition-s-am3-30ghz-8mb-cache-95w-retail

    And one of these
    http://www.scan.co.uk/products/be-quiet!-dark-rock-advanced-bk014-cpu-cooler-lga775-1155-1156-1366-am2-am2plus-am3-754-940

And then OC your new CPU... Have fun

by the way it may also be worth you upgrading your mobo to a DDR3 compatible model... something like this
    http://www.scan.co.uk/products/asus-m5a78l-m-usb3-amd-760g-s-am3plus-ddr3-sata-ii-3gb-s-raid-sata-pcie-(x16)-graphics-on-board-micr

and buy some of this to go with it..
    http://www.scan.co.uk/products/4gb-(2x2gb)-corsair-ddr3-xms3-classic-pc3-12800-(1600)-non-ecc-unbuffered-cas-9-9-9-24-150v

So you could upgrade your CPU, MOBO and RAM for £200 which will give your system a good performance boost.
  2. i would say, get an fx 4100 for 120$ and an asrock 970 am3+ pro3 for 85$.
its in your price range i guess

Not much of an upgrade from his Phenom ll. Personally, I wouldn't upgrade to anything less than a Core i5 or Phenom ll X6 if he wants to keep his current motherboard.
  4. thanks guys :D!!

  6. ^Keep in mind that an OC on a 95W CPU will not still stay under 95W.
