Id stay with the I5-2500k. Its a proven winner and way cheaper than the I7 which for most is way overkill. By the time your ready to upgrade the I5-2500k based pc in 3/4/5 years down the road, even the I7 will be concidered obsolete. IMHO the I7 is realy only a good choise for those that crazy overclock as a hobby or if you do tons of video camera uploading or high end 3D...etc.
