Graphics card query

Hello,does having more RAM in your Graphics Card make a huge difference in playing the most graphically demanding games(2GB card like Geforce Gt 540M VS 3GB card like Geforce Gt 555M)like Crysis 2 and maybe games to come in the future like Metro 2033 Last Light,Stalker-2 and Future Soldier......assuming that the amount required for Graphics RAM for such games will be on an increase in the future ?

if you are playing games above 1080p, yes larger memory like 2gb does matter but on laptop, 1gb card will be sufficient

i was hoping to buy between a xps 15 with
i7-2820 QM processor 2.30 GHz with Turbo Boost 3.40 GHz
2GB GeForce GT 540M graphics with Optimus
8GB Dual-channel 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM (2 x 4G)


or

a xps 17 With 3D
I7-2720 QM processor 2.20 GHz with turbo boost up to 3.30 Ghz
3GB NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M with 3D
8GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM(2x4GB)

so what do you suggest
i thought maybe xps 15 with a little more processor speed and its quite with in my budget but the xps 17 is also good

with the 2 gig card i can play most of the new games at low to medium settings but not at high or ultra, thats the drawback

The second option is the one I would choose, not because of more Video memory but because it has a more powerful GPU.

BTW there a minor catch because the NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M does not come with optimus technolgy whereas the NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M comes with optimus.

Now no matter how better or powerful the NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M card may be over the other one but it lacks optimus.

Optimus is when your not playing games or doing other high end graphical stuff then your laptop swithces from the nvidia GPU to the in built intel graphics card thus saving battery and minimising the tempreture of the notebook.

sO I Think i'll go with the xps 15 with Geforce gt 540m card in this regard.

Actually the geforce gt555m also comes with optimus but apparently its turned off in the dell xps 17 notebook because if 3-D will be enabled then optimus cannot run in that system and vice-versa,

But still I think that xps 15 with geforce gt 540m with optimus would be the ideal choice.

Any views on this
