Why my hp laptop does not lite up on screen

my hp pavilion entrtainment powers up but it has a black screen

I had that problem once after smashing the screen down when I got pissed off. You dont have anger problems do you?

Cause that's helpful...

Shine a flashlight at it, if you can see the image the backlight or inverter is burned out and needs replaced. Most likely the inverter if it is not an led backlit display.

If you see nothing connect it to an external monitor to make sure the gpu works. If the gpu works its time to take it apart, check the cables, and probably replace the panel.
