Help setting up 5.1 surround sound on my Turtle beach z6

so ive gotten a new turtle beach z6 headset with 5.1 surround sound and have a Realtek HD audio card. Ive plugged everything in correctly but on skype i have trouble hearing other people i have to max out the volume just to be able to barley hear and when i listen to music with them i have the same problem music is about 2x louder then the singer any suggestion on where to start have never had to set up anything really with my sound card only ever used usb pnp mic's any help at all would be appriciated. I have messed around with the setting on my card but when i was finished i had made little to no impact so i set everything back to default. (Hope i have been descriptive enough)

make adjustments in the Z6 audio panel app is all I can think of.
