I've got two GTX 460 1gb cards running in SLI, and using HWmonitor I see they sometimes get as hot as 80 Celsius. Is that normal for a GPU? What's the threshold where it's too hot? Should I consider getting a new case to help cool the cards?

What case and Mobo do you have?
80C is on the hot side, but not to the point of damaging them.

you should first get msi afterburner which allows you to change the fan speed profile of the cards. increase the fan speed. Also mskie sure your case has a couple of exhaust fans in it, and if possible a side intake fan blowing over the cards.

I don't remember the name of the case, I bought it a long time ago and have been using it for all my machines since. It's a pretty good case, has grilles at the front for air intake and a fan in the back to blow it out.

It also has a side fan, but it blows the air OUT instead of in... is there any way to reverse that?

And I have a P67 Extreme4 from ASrock.

Is manually increasing fan speeds safe? Will it get very noisy?

Thanks for your help!
