After nearly three years of relatively quiet operation, my Antec TruePower Quattro 850 is suddenly making a lot more noise.

The noise is related to the fan, in that, when I stop the fan the noise stops. But its not the normal kind of fan noise that's bothering me. It sounds more like a really loud water radiator you might find in an old house, or some sort of wind tunnel effect.

The fan doesn't look damaged to me and isn't making contact with anything. I've also tried to remove as much dust as possible from the case. Lots of dust came out, but it didn't change the objectionable sound any.

I believe its still in warranty, although getting it shipped off and waiting for it to come back sounds like a huge hassle.

Also - I haven't opened the case yet, both because there's a "voids warranty" sticker, and also because I’m not sure I have any business working on a power supply.

Don't break the seal if still is in warranty; RMA it. Check with Antec to find out how long the whole process will take.

The Antec TruePower Quattro 850 - EC is now discontinued but they did have a 5 Year warranty.

I'm not sure if Antec's is going to be asking for proof of purchase date to confirm if the PSU is still within warranty.

Generally warranty is provided from date of manufacturing printed on the body of your SMPS if you can't find proof of purchase.

Thanks everyone. I believe I have the receipt and will go through with the RMA process.
