Hey all,

I recently landed my self and IBM think pad x61, forr the bargain price of 100 pound, mainly because its the jap import. any how, its running an 2.0ghz intel core 2 duo. I was wondering if it was possible to stick a core 2 quad in it, or if not what the most powerfull cpu for this model was. Its by no means slow. infact it out performs a lt of the laptops where I currentky work.

Help much appreciated !

Even if you could, you shouldn't.
The cooling system isn't made for anything better than a dual core. A quad would burn a hole on your lap and through the laptop.
Enjoy the good deal you got the way it is.

I believe that it only supports a Core 2 Duo. That is what IBM said on the site.
