Cooler Master PSU? Aren't they the ones to avoid at all cost?

You can change the GPU to an AMD 6850 which is cheaper and get a cheaper casing and psu. I don't think he needs the cooler since he won't be overclocking.

How bout this:

Intel i5 2310 - $185.00
ASRock Z68 Pro3 Motherboard B3 - $129.00
HIS Radeon HD6870 IceQ X 1GB - $199.00
G.Skill Ripjaws F3-12800CL8D-4GBRM (2x2GB) DDR3 - $45.00
Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB HD103SJ - $69.00
Lite-On IHAS324 24x DVDRW - $29.00
Antec Three Hundred Case - $59.00
CoolerMaster eXtreme Power Plus 650W - $85.00
ASUS VE228H 21.5in Widescreen LED Monitor - $165.00

Total = $965.00

although i would probably spend the little extra and get the Intel Core i5 2500K - $219.00

Granted, multi monitor resolutions would have likely seen the 3GB Lightning XE pulling off some impressive wins but we weren’t given a pair to play around with. Plus, spending $1200 or more on two of these cards is more than all but a few upper-crust enthusiasts are willing to spend

If you could read you would see that the reviewer did not evan have the cards. So ill say again get your facts straight.
