Different Resolutions

Heres my question. I have a laptop with 4GBs of RAM and a IGP which is the ATi Radeon HD3200. At this moment in time I am getting 1919GBs of shared video memory. Upgrading my RAM WILL increase it I know that but what I want to know is. Will I be play to play games at higher resolution if I have more memory being shared to the graphics? At this moment in time I can play Halo 2 PC at 800 x 600 on medium settings and get 40FPS. If I was to upgrade to 8GBs of RAM would I be able to increase the resolution to at least 1024 x XXX and maintain my FPS?

Other specs as follow:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 QL-65 2.1GHz
500GB 5,400RPM HDD
4GBs of RAM (2x2GB)
ATi Raedon HD3200 (256MB Built in + Shared RAM)
