I have my Q6600 packed for some time now and i need to buy a new motherboard to run with it.
Budget is 50-90e
I also have 2x1g 800mhz rams and another set ( 1066mhz ) which burned out and took it to the store,
they can give me either another pair of 2x1g 800mhz or 40e that i can use to buy something from their store.
Now my question is:
Should i use my 40e credit + 10e and buy a s775 mobo with hybrid ram support (ddr2+3, can't work simultaneously
Should i swap them for another pair of 2x1g and buy a s775 socket - ddr2 support for ~50e ?
Should i use the credit and buy a ddr3 mobo and buy 6-8g of ram ? Will try to sell the 2x1g rams i got.
Also if i get hybrid and use ddr3 or get ddr3 only can they work with the cpu i got ?
Will there be any type of conflict since ddr3 rams run at faster clocks than the ddr2 or the ddr3 clocks will be scaled down to what the cpu can handle ?
Anything specific i need to look for when i buy the motherboard ( except cpu compatibility ) ? Like mobo fsb?
I will most likely overclock the moment the pc is operational from 2.4ghz to 3.0ghz.
Also since at that price range motherboards got no raid controller, i would appreciate it if somebody could give me some info about buying an extra raid controller card so that i can do a raid 1 configuration when pc is up and running.
