Confused about dual channel memory

I have an Intel DH61HO motherboard which has only two slots for memory.
I am currently using one of them with a kingston 2gb 1333 mhz and i want to increase my system's memory.

So how does it work? if i add a 4gb to the second slot will it add up to 6gb and work as two individual rams or will it work in dual channel mode ( i guess in this case both rams will act as a 2gb 1333mhz and work as a raid setup)

More about confused dual channel memory
  1. it will work as asymmetrical dual channel. meaning you'll have 4GB of dual ram and then if the os usesmore than that you will have an extra 2gb single channel ram
  2. Intel's explanation:
