Netgear n600 query

Hello,
is it possible to use an orange livebox as the modem for a netgear n600, I have tried but the netgear keeps telling me i have a fixed ip address when i dont or says that i have to input my previous modems mac address, and when i do it tells me again that ive got a fixed ip,
Am i wasting my time ??

hope this works for you:

login to the Netgear change the LAN IP from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.254, disable the DHCP, setup the wireless security.

connect the red port on the Livebox to one of the 4 LAN ports on the Netgear (do NOT use the WAN port)
