First Real Gaming Build Need Advice

I am building my first real gaming build and purchasing everything in about a week. I want to stay on air cooling, and want to stay ridiculously high end. I would just like to know any suggestions, and or comments on my current build plan. My plan is as follows:

Big things that i would like advice on are the two video cards, mobo, and HDD's.

Note - I have a 3rd video card i am going to use as a dedicated phys x card. This card is a GTX 460.

I would love to hear what sugestions you guys have, I will be here listening and commenting.

Are you seriously going to spend that much...

I built my i7-2600k for under 1500.

I'm running a Gigabyte P67 a ud-4 Mobo

i7-2600k

Corsair h50 cooler w/ a second fan

2 Sata3 HD 1 sys, 1 data

HD6850 video (yes this is a weak point)

Antec 600 case

and 1833 RAM (don't remember which)

The system is stable @ 4.20 GHz

Do some more research, donate $500 to charity and you will still have an awesome system.

The 2500K performs 98% of the 2600K in gaming. Easily the 2500K can overclock past that little 2% differential.

The 2X580's are huge waste of money, especially since no game in the current day (especially not BF3) would require that even at 2560x1600.

Even CF 6870's (A third of the cost) perform quite close as shown at 1920x1200. Now that's pretty funny.

You wouldn't even need that PSU for SLI 580's Corsair PSU's are overpriced and pretty much a ripoff. This is overkill for any system but cheaper and a better deal than any of those Corsair ripoffs

V-Raptor drives are ripoff, why don't you just get a single 240GB SSD and a 1TB F3 for main storage? You'd save money and still get way faster boots and more storage space as well.

ROG boards are also a huge waste of money. Are you trolling us or something? An Asrock Extreme4 Gen3 Z68 could easily perform to that boards level and still save you money as well as giving you the future proof of PCI-E 3.0 which the Maximus doesn't offer. Spending that much now, doesn't mean future proof. It is just a waste since 7000 series is coming soon and Kepler as well plus SB-E and BD as well.

what resolution will you be playing at and what is your budget?

^ resolution of 1920*1080 uh but budget is like 3 grand but i could go like 3.5 if i had to.

I was going to suggest Crossfire 6970's but since your only gaming on a single monitor @ 1920x1080, maybe SLI 570's would be better? Or even just a single 580 with room to add another in the future? Thoughts anyone?
