I am ditching this FX 4100. My wife is gonna get me a new one for our anniversary, so i want to make the right choice this time, as the fx 4100 was obviously the wrong choice. I want to know which of these 3 will give me the best gaming performance.

FX 8150
Phenom II X6 1100T
Phenom II X4 980

You could get the 1090T($30 cheaper@newegg for the same chip as the 1100T).

Overclocking the northbridge really helps the X6 in games where it loses to the X4's, and you can overclock with the unlocked multiplier when you have a good northbridge overclock.

A Phenom II X6 gives much better multithreaded performance for the price than the 8150 or the PhII X4.

I've already got a good cooler and a 990 board. Only thing Im not happy with is the cpu. I'm not an overclocker so I guess that means the X6 is out. No votes for the FX 8150? I know it costs way more, but my wife is payin for it, lol. I just want to make sure I have the best AMD gaming cpu since I can't really afford to build a whole new system and go with INTEL right now. From what I can see on several different charts the gaming performance of the 8150 was about the same as the X4 980, with Skyrim being the only exception. And the 8150 blew the rest of the AMD's out of the water on MOST non-gaming tests, at stock settings anyway. From what you guys are saying though, I'm leaning towards the X4 980. Will it have a gaming advantage over the 8150 or will they be about equal?
