16 gb

Hi guys and gals.
If i put 16gb of ddr3 1600mhz ram into my windows 7 64 bit machine will it make a difference and will i be able to turn off the page file completely?
Or is it a waste and 8gb is just fine?
Any help or comments will be appreciated thanks

  1. In my experience 8 is more than enough and 16 is pointless, unless you are running multiple VM's off of your box.
  2. the only thing 16GB is good for right now is bragging rights. Unless you are running an app that actually needs more than 8, it is a waste. If you are running an app that needs 16GB, you'd already know you need 16gb.
  3. Okay thanks guys i'll stick with 8.
