Hello,

My toshiba Qosmio gave up the ghost last night  (I think it was the motherboard). I am very short on funds at the moment, and I was wondering if I could use the dual Nvidia 9800M's and the Core 2 Quad extreme in a desktop system?

Thanks

Hey now, anythings possible. Except this...
If you're technically minded and do a motherboard swap then yes it should be possible. But extremely difficult and not cost effective in the least.

Step one - procure the EXACT same motherboard that was in your laptop.
Step two - install that motherboard into your desktop.
Step three - install into that motherboard your cpu, gpu, heatsinks, etc (basically you need every part that was in your laptop except the replaced motherboard.
Step four - Hope it works.

I'm not so sure about the applications of laptop tech being used in a desktop although I suppose you could install some extra fans to make it run cooler (and therefore last longer)

Hello and thanks to both of you. The reason I was asking was because I am severely limited in my cashflow (as in flowing in the wrong direction)

ah well,

Thanks for your help

The CPU yes if your motherboard supports the same one in your laptop and I believe the OOsmio uses a desktop processor (not a mobile).

The videocard does not share the same format as your desktop.
