I have a Gigabyte GA-MA785GMUS2H motherboard, and it will not boot past the BIOS screen. It hangs when it tries to identify IDE devices. It successfully identifies the memory then freezes. The problem began when I upgraded to a PHENOM X6 processor. I later realized I did not have the appropriate BIOS update revision for said processor. Naturally I took of said processor and installed previously functioning processor, after clearing the CMOS. This did not fix it. I checked all of the RAM sticks in another computer, all are fine. I took out the BIOS battery overnight, but to no avail. One thing I did notice is that after clearing the CMOS I can get it to accept one fast input as I hit delete it will update the lower portion of the BIOS screen to read "Preparing to enter setup," and it hangs there. Not sure where to go from here, please advise? I did have it set to AHCI previously if that matters?

have you tried disconnecting all hard drives and USB devices?

are you using the on-board video card?
