Do threads say on a i5 cpu have a frequency? like say every thread has 3 ghz speed?

My one friend that works at a computer shop says that the intel i5 2300 is beter for gaming than a intel i5 2400 and a intel i5 2500? wtf? He also says he has a a pc at the shop which has a 2500, gtx 560ti and 8 gig 1333 mhz ram and says that Crysis 2 lags on extreme FHD?

Thanks for the help, cause im baying a new mobo, cpu and ram.

Solution
the "K" version is the same as the normal version except that it has an unlocked multiplier, which is only useful for overclocking. If crysis 2 lags on a system with an i5 2500, then the gfx card is the problem. To play crysis 2 smoothly with all details and dx11 at 1080p resolution a gtx570 or greater is what you need. 4gb ram is enough, but ram is so cheap you should get 8gb. If its a gaming system its more important to pick a good gfx card, a 560ti is a good choice.

all processors have a frequency, the higher up the 2x00 range you go the higher the frequencies and the better the performance, the 2500 is the best for gaming in the i5 range, the i7 2600k can be worse in some instances

Thanks because i wanted to say that this guy is talking crap. He still says the the 2500 is not going to suffice, so screw him.

Just out of curiosity im buying the 2500 (no k vesion, or should I?) and the ASUS P8H67-M LX plus 4 gig 1333mhz ram will it be a good system?
