    Page works, but I am unable to download. It just tells me that a given

    So, what exactly is different? It looks like the standard D70 to me.

    With an extra "S" on the end of the product name,
    it is suddently more competitive with the Canon 350D.

    Would you mind sending me the unpacked files by e-mail? I'm really curious
    as to what to expect, on the verge of ordering a D70 but waiting what the
    D70s turns out to be like. My mailbox is large enough to handle anything.
    You can work out the spambot deterrent in my address yourself I hope ;-)

    Thank you very much in advance,

    Most mailservers have a limit on message size. Most around 7MB (text).

    my boss tried to send me a 186mb attachment the other day... sometimes i
    think people should have to take a test before being allowed to subscribe to
    high speed internet...

    So for those of us too impatient to download and study the D50 manual,
    how does it differ from the D70? Has it been officially announced?
    Any idea how much it will cost? The D70 has been $858 from
    profeel.com (a pretty good dealer who I've bought from a few times)
    for at least a month. I wonder if it will drop some more when the
    D70s and/or D50 comes out.

    During brief comparison of my D70 printed manual and D70S pdf manual, I
    found following differences:
    1. larger display: 1.8" -> 2.0" (but the same number of pixels, 130 000)
    2. new battery EN-EL3a (EN-EL3 also can be used): 1400mAh -> 1500mAh; 2000
    frames -> 2500 frames (example 1 in the manual), 400 frames -> 2500 frames
    (example 2 in the manual - in my opinion it is a mistake)
    3. new MC-DC1 remote cord + additional socket for this cord with separate
    cover, just above the DC IN socket
    4. wider built-in flash: 20mm -> 18mm
    5. official support for more SanDisk (up to 2GB) and Lexar (faster, 80x WA
    USB) cards

    I run my own mailserver specifically for the purpose of receiving these
    HUGE attachments you speak of (tired of educating users so I just deal
    with it and it works surprisingly well). It will quite happily take 7MB of
    manuals. I have had complete CD ROM's emailed to me in this way. I'd
    republish the uncompressed manuals on my own webserver if I could access
    them, but I can't.

    I'm dowloading the files off the mirror provided elsewhere in this thread.
    When it's done I'll put the files up on a server with a fast connection.

    Bas

    PS. I do run my own mail server for exactly the purpose you describe. Some
    people are too dense to even use a web upload form so I just have them
    email me their huge files. It works surprisingly well, even though mail
    was never intended for this purpose.

    This actually reads '500', not '2500', i.e., a 25% increase in capacity
    (as in the other example). I wonder if the new battery will be
    backwards-compatible with the D70 or its charger? (the older EN-EL3 at
    least appears to be forwards-compatible with the D70S) The 'power source'
    specification suggests that the older (now described as 'optional') MH-18
    charger can be used (the D70s apparently ships with an 'MH-18a'), but it
    isn't quite clear if this means with either battery.

    >3. new MC-DC1 remote cord + additional socket for this cord with separate
    >cover, just above the DC IN socket
    >4. wider built-in flash: 20mm -> 18mm

    I wonder about this one - for some reason the original D70 manual omits
    the 18-70 lens from the table on p101, but this is the only lens with
    coverage confirmed at that zoom position in the equivalent D70S table
    (e.g. the 18-35 is only confirmed at 20mm in both manuals).

    >5. official support for more SanDisk (up to 2GB) and Lexar (faster, 80x WA
    >USB) cards

    The newer cards are already confirmed as supported by the D70 on the Nikon
    tech support website (the D70 manual probably pre-dates them).
    ---

    Additional predicted but unconfirmed features:

    New increased MRP with no discounts in initial sales period!

    New zero cashback rebate!

    New support for RGBS imaging!:
    http://www.negativland.com/squant/
    (now you know what the 'S' in 'D70S' stands for).

    at the bottom of the page, click on the button labelled "Free" to select the
    Free download option

    you'll have to wait about 30sec at the next page then the at the bottom a
    direct link to the file will appear

    eg: http://dl1.rapidshare.de/files/1057680/98/d70s.rar

    though I don't know if the URL is dynamically created so the above link may
    not work but the process will.
