Hello everyone, For my first build, I'm planning on having an Asrock z77 Extreme4 atx motherboard.

For the motherboard, the ram specs are as follows:
Memory Standard
DDR3 2800+(OC)/2400(OC)/2133(OC)/1866(OC)/1600/1333/1066

So If i get 2x4GB kit at 1600MHz, does that mean I won't be able to overclock it?

Or if i get a 2x4gb 1866MHz kit, does it mean it'll run at 1866 overclocked at default or i'll have to overclock it in the bios for it to work?

Btw the dual channel, refers to the 2 x 2(4 Slots) or 2x1 + 2x1 slots?

Will it be more beneficial to have 4 * 2gb or 2* 4gb? Which one will be dual channnel?

Thanks

To run your RAM in dual-channel mode your sticks should be in slots 1/3 or 2/4. The Motherboard manual usually shows these layouts if your not sure. Also from what I've read above 1600mhz the benefits of frequency increases aren't as good so you might wanna not waste the money on buying anything higher.
