Hello, I currently have a dell xps420 Q6600 and I'm looking to replace my 8800gt but the psu is only 300w, I heard that dell's psu are pretty good.

Could I replace my 8800 for a 6850hd without changing the psu?6

Yo do not need a 600W PSU for a single HD 6850, you can run a HD off a Antec Earthwatts 380W PSU, or even a Corsair Builder Series CX430 430W PSU.

EDIT: You could probably run a HD 6850 on that PSU as it only uses around 10 more watts than your 8800GT, but if you want to stay safe, grab a HD 5770 or HD 6770, as they use the same or less power as the 8800GT but perform much better.

I either stick with my 300w psu or buy an high end psu so I can upgrade the rest of my hardware soon. So I'll prolly get a 600-750w psu with and a hd 6850 for now...

thanks for the quick response

You are probably right... I can't check right now but I think I'll order a 6850 and if it doesnt work out ill just upgrade my psu.

Do you have any recommandation on wich 6850 should I get?? I was thinking about the Powercolor one
