I recently upgraded an old computer by adding a sapphire 5670 512GDDR5.
It's a pre-built acer system with a "300W" PSU. I decided that would be barely enough for a 5670 but I'm used to quality PSUs and never thought to look at the 12v rating, which is 240 watts.

Anyway, getting it to work at all was a pain and now it likes to give me bluescreens and random glitches. (for example i can't stay more than 2 seconds on the skyrim save screen or my graphics driver resets)

My plan was to buy a decent 300W psu but instead i think i'll get this one Antec Earthwatts 380W because i don't like any of the 300W ones on newegg.

Just want to be sure i'm not doing anything stupid...

I'm running a 6770 (aka a 5770) and an old Quad Core Phenom and my system load is never higher than 220W (at load). Consider that a power supplies efficiency is ~80% (unless you get some GOLD supply with 90%+) and you normally don't want the power supply to run near it's max load at all times, if avoidable.

That Antec should be pretty solid, also take a sneak peak at

where you can find a recommended list for silent PSUs including some reviews.
