I recommend Using MSI AfterBurner to check if your GPU is being used at 100%... You'll lag at 100% or you can say low FPS at 100% GPU Usage... You shoulda be lagging as long as your GPU isn't at 100% usage.. my Bro's GT 9800 512MB can run BlackOps at Max/full settings without any problem... Awhile using MSI afterburner, check your temps, it could be at 80-90*C which well cause it to throttle down which makes your GPU stuck at lower speed until restart... If you want, OverClock your videocard to get high performance but there's a max so go up by 5-10MHz to test and see if stable when playing games and keep raising until there's spikes or like those random lines poping up...

ur brother is using which processor???
i hav overcloked my gpu a bit using zotac firestorm...!!
i am able to play bt there is still lagging a bit as previous..!! how it is able to play at max setting without any lag??

Reply to shishir18

If you have overclocked your card, get it running at stock speeds and check again if it lags or not. Also from the NVIDIA control panel, restore the original settings for the games you mention.

It's a Q9550...

you should upgrade your cpu. From all your posts which you have made I can only conclude that your cpu is atrociously weak even for a 9800 GT.Buy at least a core 2 do and your problem should be solved

Reply to celpas

A Q9550 is the best processor in the 775 Socket board at the Performance+Price... The price is seriously high even though it's still the same price after all these years(3 years)... I still dont know why it's not dropping the price even though a i7 can win on all the things it can do...

It depends on resolution. The lower the resolution the the higher the cpu matters.Since you play at a lower rez your gpu is not being utilisedBTW can you please install EVGA Precision? After you install it post back here coz the last time when you had a 5770 evga precision wouldnt even run

ok.open the program.click on the spanner (the wrench icon) and go into monitoring tab. There below you will find a number of ticks besides core clock, fan etc.Make sure the gpu usage has a tick to the left.If it doesnt have it click on it and make sure its ticked.Minimize the application. Now run any game and start playing a new game.On the top left corner you will see a percentage constantly changing.See whether it reads 100 % and post back here

Well that settles it.Your cpu is bottlenecking you in every game you try.You should get 99% usage in all games you play. There are 3 reasons for low gpu usage
1.New drivers for a recently released card
2.Your psu is not up to the mark
3.Your cpu is weak for the card

Now it can't be reason 1 since the 9800 GT is pretty old.You have a high quality cooler master psu so even thats ruled out.So it has to be reason 3.Your pentium dual core is bottlenecking your card and the only way to solve the problem is to buy a new cpu.Yout pentium dual core is actually even weaker than the amd athlons. The pentiums were really bad for gaming even back in the day and they nearly always lost to the competitive amd athlons.Buy a new cpu.We can also advise you as to which cpu is best for your card.No wonder the 5770 was lagging in all your games.Your cpu bottlenecks the 9800 GT so a 5770 running on that cpu is out of question

Can you please try overclocking your card?Does the fps increase when you do that?

Now I am an expert only on cards but I am 90% sure that upgrading the cpu should solve your problem. The pentium you have IS ATROCIOUSLY WEAK.However there is a 10% chance that your fps may not increase in which case you have to build yourself a new rig completely from scratch.BTW overclocking the pentium won't help because it is still too weak for your 9800 GT.Your card get only 20-30% usage in all games when it should be a constant 99%.That shows you how severely your card is being bottlenecked.Buy a core 2 duo and the problem should be solved. ;)

BTW hou much did you overlcock your cardd in figures.Did you overclock by 5 mhz or more?

more then 5 mhz..!! around 20 mhz

I am quite positive that your cpu is bottlenecking you.Replace it with a core 2 duo.BTW is this cooler master psu a new one?

That won't help you in the least because its a very very weak cpu.The problem with your pc is that in every game you run the 9800 GT is processing in game frames per second so fast that your cpu is having trouble processing them BEFORE it sends the frames to your gpu. Therefore your gpu has to wait for the cpu to process the frame before sending it to the gpu.Because of this idle time your gpu usage is VERY VERY low.If you buy a high quality cpu your fps will increase about 3-4 times.I recommend a intel core 2 duo as a minimum upgrade but if you can afford it the intel core i5 is the best out there.
BTW also see the price of any amd phenom 2 X4 in your area.If its cheaper than the core 2 duo then go for it.

Difference in these cards is only the factory OC right?

I should say that is the only difference.
