I would love to go up to 12GB at DDR3 1600 or higher, but first I want to ask if anyone has had any luck doing it and what configuration worked for them? The last time I tried to fill the rest of the slots with the same RAM I have right now (Kingston HyperX KHX1600C9AD3/2G) and it didn't work out at all. Obviously the problem was with the timing, but since I've never worked with it before I didn't want to mess around with it and sent the new RAM back. I have a INTEL i7-960 processor & an 850W power supply. CyberpowerPC overclocked it at 10% so i'm guessing I'll need to remove that somehow also to get the timing right.
KINGSTON KHX1600C9D3K3/12GX(XMP) 12GB(3 x DS N/A Heat-Sink Package (1066-7-7-7-20) 1.65.
Has that worked for anyone?
Do you think I be better off going with one of the prescribed DDR3 1866 configuration instead?
I know very little about the intricacies of RAM. Would the gain of that data rate (1866 vs 1600) make up very much for the lower size of the RAM?
Has anyone successfully added more than 6GB of DDR3 1866 on their Sabertooth x58?
Were you able to solve your problem ? I also have the Sabertooth x58, intel i7 950, 2Gbx3 G-skill 1600MHz and i would love to add 6Go... But i read the same document and I am asking myself the same question...
