I'm about to add a few upgrades to my long-running gaming rig. I'm pretty in love with the normal ATX Ramage IV, which is a 2011 socket. I wanted to know if it'll work with an i7-3770k Ivy Bridge CPU, which is 1155.

Edit: Dumb question. I did more research, and I totally forgot what I had read months ago. 2011 sockets only on Sandy-E and future Ivy-E. Guess I'll have to fall in love with an 1155 mobo.

of course not. if they were compatible with each other, then why would Intel even make the other socket?

Also, before any comments on i5 v i7, I also run a plethora of CAD and studio programs, so it isn't JUST for gaming.

CAD would benefit more from the i7-3960K than the i7-3770K for the 3960 is a hexa-core with hyper-threading. It's a just a question of budget though.

Yeah, I just totally rebuilt my list. I'm pairing an i7-3770k with an ASRock Extreme9. I'm very satisfied with what 1155 I was able to find.
