I have a lenovo thinkpad edge 15 laptop. Core i3 380M 2.53ghz. Running win7 64bit pro. It has 2 ram slots, currently having 2gig and 4gig = 6gig. I wanted to upgrade using kingston 8gig sticks, but the laptop won't boot into windows. It freezes or gives BSOD. the bios is latest and claims to support 16gig. The bios also sees the ram when I go into utilities, but windows won't load. Callcentre is uselss, they claim "the laptop is specified to support 8gig).
My question is - is there a workaround to read the ram? The laptop was specified to be 8gig max at a time when the max ram per stick was 4gig, so 2 x 4gig - 8gig, but now 8 gig is available, why can't it load? Is this a windows problem or a lenovo problem? HELP
