I have a Intel Mobile Core 2 Duo T6500 @ 2.10GHz(on my HP DV6 laptop). The mainboard is a Quanta 3627. I wanted to know it I can or if it makes sense to upgrade the CPU to a faster, newer version?

Very unlikely... most mobile processors are soldered directly onto the motherboard. Depends on hp if they kept the socket p design. What you can upgrade to is what your series maxes out at.

Does it make sense to do it? Depends to what and if you can. It will cost you depending on the cpu you upgrade to. Also you have to make sure the bios supports it, and it has adequate cooling.

What is your laptop series number? eg: dv6xxxx

edit: Assuming its this

You can upgrade to

Intel® Core™2 Duo T9900
Intel® Core™2 Duo T9800
Intel Core2 Duo T9600
Intel Core2 Duo T9550
Intel Core2 Duo T9400
Intel Core2 Duo T6600
Intel Core Duo P8400
Intel Core Duo P7550
Intel Core Duo P7450

I think the best upgrade for cost is the t9400

If not to the P8400 (used) for less power usage

New is double the price
