Possible PSU issue?

I built a tower about 6 or so years ago, and about 1-2 years ago it just wouldn't boot up. I've put it off for long enough, and I started to troubleshoot today.

Rig Components:
Fatal1ty AN9 board (abit)
Random Nvidia card
OCZ Ram
Apevia ATX PSU

The Problem: What happens is when I hit the power, it turns on for about 2 seconds the shuts itself off. I can repeat this maybe 5-10 times until it will refuse to power up at all. This leads me to believe the PSU is dead, but then..

I did the paperclip trick on the PSU ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5FWXgQSokF4&feature=yout... ). And it seems to run perfectly fine with only the load of a case fan on it indefinitely.

Any other ideas? I'm going to borrow a friends PSU later today to see if his will boot the system. Any help would be awesome, thanks everyone.

If your friend's power supply won't get your motherboard to post, then I would upgrade your system with a new power supply and a new board and cpu. Newegg has a shellshocker deal today with an 2500k cpu, board, ram, and hardrive for $299 after rebate that might work well for you.
