This board appears to be the same price (may be different at Fry's) but has the slightly newer chipset: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6813131767 and should support all of Bulldozer's features (if he ever upgrades).
If your stepfather is potentially interested in Crossfire, however, get a board that can run x8,x8 instead of x16,x4 like this ASRock: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6813157262
My personal experience with Coolermaster (half a dozen models, on up to my RC-690) is that ALL of them had minor quality issues. None required RMA or made the case unusable (untapped screw holes, misaligned panels, problems with fans, loose tool-free mounts) but I got tired of them. Combined with the liar-labels on some of their PSUs, I have decided that Coolermaster as a company does not deserve my business. I've bought at least half a dozen Rosewill cases, and none of those had any of those problems. My current case is an Enermax Hoplite, and I LOVE it. It could have a little more space behind the mobo tray for cable routing, but the other features are outstanding, especially the drive mounting options. I added a low speed Scythe fan to the top, and the case is nearly silent, even with four mechanical HDDs in it.
Seagate has a 500GB drive for $44 shipped: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6822148767
I have a X4 970BE overclocked to 3.8GHz under a Xigmatek Gaia, and it idles around 31C-33C: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6835233082 ($30 with free shipping)
I like SSDs, but I think 60GB is going to be a little small. See if you can get at least 80GB to leave a decent amount of room for programs.
For the PSU, check out the 650W Antec Earthwatts; will have plenty of juice to Crossfire a pair of HD6850 GPUs.

Thanks so much! yeah i already have the motherboard and am kinda dumping it on him cause i want a good crossfire board.... shitty but what i was thinking is if he gets a 6850 i can get one as well and then trade him a 7000 series so i can crossfire and he can have 1 kickass card in the future thanks for the input on rosewill cases ive personally used there power supplies for 5 years with no problems whatsoever i know they arent highly reputed as a psu company so im going with antec thanks again for input!

Wow, that's gotta be the longest run-on sentence in history.

By the way buy, bye, and by are 3 different words with 3 different meanings.

Do kids these days even bother with English class?
