Hello. I thnking of replacing my AMD Phenom X4 (not sure of model number) 2,6GHz with AMD FX-1400 Black Edition 3.6GHz which is AM3+ processor. My mobo has AM2+ socket so will it fit? I've heard that it will fit to AM3 but not sure about AM3+. Do they even have difference? Thanks in advance, i just started my IT studies and i'm not so familiar with these stuff so..

well your board must be am3 allready as you have a phenom processor (which is am3) but i dont know if its am3+... could you give me a model number of it and ill look it up for you

AM3+ CPU's will work in only in AM3+ (DDR3 only)

AM3 CPU's will work in AM3/AM3+ or AM2+ mobo's (Works with DDR3 or DDR2 Ram)

AM2+ CPU's will only work in AM2+ mobo's (DDR2 only)

AM2 CPU's will only work in AM2/AM2+ mobo's (DDR2 only)

+ little unrelated question but don't bother making another topic for it: should i replace my graphic card (Radeon HD 4850 with 2431Mb memory) over processor or both for ideal gaming performance?
