How to get asus m4a88td v evo optical audio 6 channel output? toms hardware

im not getting a surround output(i.e. 6 channel output) when connected through optical audio cable to my home theatre system
and getting only 2 channel 16 bit 48khz.
pls help me guys.

my pc is providing a 2 channel out.no choice for 5.1channel
how to make it possible?

pls tel me to how to check that my computer supports it.

i connectd my home theatre surround sound system to my computer using an optical audio cable.
In sound settings from control panel,i selected the properties of hd optical audio.there under advancd tab only stereo setings are displayed(2 channel 16bit 48khz).and the test tune works perfectly in 2 speakers.but my other 4 speakers are not engaged in that test proces.

it sounds like your computer doesn't even support 6.1 surround sound

but lemme see your specs
