Hey, im having a problem with my computer, i have a 1200 watts thermaltake PSU, as soon as i connect it to my outlet i can see small spark from the connection and i lose power in my room, is the PSU faulty or is my outlet?

I mean, the computed turned on for all of 3 seconds then I lost all power, ps3 turned off, xbox, home theater, tv, all off after i connected my PC...

I got the power back, and when i plugged it in, i got a small spark from the outlet and lost power again.

Thanks...

If you can connect something else to the outlet and it works fine then it is the PSU that is the problem!

Hey, thanks for the reply! :p , I have tried plugging the PSU in different outlets in my home and the result is always the same, it kills the power in the wall where it's connected.

I tried using its power cable on my ps3 and it works, could it be that the PSU is faulty or my wall sockets dont have enough power for it?

It is a short on the PSU! When you plug it in and the computer is off it is not putting any load on your outlet!
Is this a new build or something that was working before?

Brand New Build:

2 gtx 580s 3gbs (Only have one connected for testing)
Fatality Sound xi fi sound card
1 128gb SSD
1 2tb 6.0 g/bs 7200rpm HDD
16gbs RAM, 18000mhz (Cooler installed)
i7 2600k( Stock cooler, havent connected liquid one yet...)
A few fans, 5.
Asus p8z68 deluxe mobo

And like i said, the computer only turned on for like 3 seconds(All fans and mobo lights turned on, no beeping) before it killed the power on the wall lol, ps3, xbox, sound system, tv, modem, router etc. all shut down.

Disconnect the PSU from everything inside the computer and try plugging it in to the outlet again, if still tripping the breaker then the short is in the PSU otherwise you have possible connected something wrong or you have a short on the DC (computer) side of the PSU.
You can use this guide to see if the computer side is wrong http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/261145-31-perform-ste...
It though still most likely that there is internal short in the PSU.

Ok, just tried that...lol, it still tripped the breakers :( , btw breakers are 20A, and only the PSU was plugged in, lights and everything else was off or unplugged.

Thanks for your help :) , I'll send the thermaltake back to amazon for a refund and go with the Corsair one and see how it goes from there.
