I'm in the process of building a new pc and I'm acquiring the components over time (not all at once). I have the psu, not the mb, so I put it in the case. I wanted to ground it so I connected it to an ac outlet. However, I just read that you should never connect a psu to an ac outlet if the psu is not also connected to a mb or a dummy test load (whatever that is). My mb comes tomorrow and now I'm suddenly scared about hooking it up. Am I ok to proceed? Also, what's the best place to hook the alligator clip of an anti-static wristband? Thanks guys.

Solution
No worry's you are not damaging anything if you hook it up it will not take any power unless it has to deliver it somewhere but there is really no need to do that! Hook the clip to a metal part of your case!
