The machine (more or less) operates fine until it decides to restart.
i7 2.67 gHz
8 gigs of Corsair Dominator memory (DD3 1600, 1.65v)
Western Digital 500g SATA II boot drive
Seagate 2.0 TB storage drive
Thermaltake 850 watt power supply
Radeon HD 3870X2 graphics
Windows 7 Ultimate x64
This machine has done the exact same thing with two video cards, a Radeon X1950 XTX and this 3870X2. Sometimes the machine will turn itself back on when it restarts, other times it stays off and will not power back up unless I unplug the power supply and let it sit for about 30 minutes.
I've tried "Failsafe" settings, "Optimum" settings, and my own settings to try and get this issue to stop. I have updated the BIOS to the newest version I can find.
I used both AIDA64 and Speccy, and both programs report wonky sensor information on this specific board, to the point where Speccy only works about 2 times in 10 without crashing.
This issue occurs when I play a game, or when I do something as simple as Netflix. The machine will run for days on end in screensaver mode, and not restart.
I've noticed that the processor seems to be hotter than it should be, but that may be a side effect of either a 1156 socket chip, or the fact that the case the machine is in is one of those clear plastic cases, I'm not sure. The chip is running at a nominal 130 F.
Any thoughts? I will add any information needed\requested.
