1st gen i7 or 2nd gen i5 ?

Whats difference between the first generation Intel® Core™ i7-740QM Processor (6M cache, 1.73 GHz) and second generation Intel® Core™ i5-2410M Processor (3M Cache, 2.30 GHz) ?? and which one is better .. please help me geeky guysss ...... :bounce:

no doubt 2nd gen i5 is a lot better of it's higher frequency latest lithography.

At those clockrates 1.73Ghz VS 2.3GHz, I would choose the I5, it also hass better onboard graphics, lower power consumption. Although its technically not better.

Give the FULL specs on the 2 laptops and we can help abit better.

The first gen mobile i3/5/7 processors were rather underwhelming, offering significantly lower clocks than their core2 predecessors which certainly did not help in most mobile applications.

The second gen i5/7 processors have much better turbos and in my opinion really hit the mobile performance sweet spot.

Also, the 2nd generation Core i series CPUs are on average 12% better performing than the 1st gen Core i series CPUs when both have the same clock speed.
