Dell Dimension Hibernates While in Use

Recently my Dell Dimension has gone into hibernation out of the blue. I've had it now for almost 2 years and never had this problem before. Power settings are fine. It can happen at any time, even during boot up! I've re-installed the Linux O/S (Ubuntu) and even another flavor of Linux, OpenSUSE, but the problem persists. I haven't been able to find a solution anywhere on the web. My tech checked all the hardware and said it is fine. I need to know if there is any solution before scrapping it. Thanks.

  1. I have seen motherboards cause this issue. Maybe need to replace it. Your tech cannot guarantee every component on the motherboard. It does not seem software related because it happens on different OS's... so I would go with Motherboard. Or try updating the BIOS...
