I5 2500k 2 cores at 50% IDLE..? Normal?

Hey.

I just recently purchased an i5 2500K and tested in my brothers motherboard.

It is reading two cores constantly at 50% while on idle. The other two cores are completely dead on 0.

I'm coming from a i7 960 build and i have never seen this. I heard this CPU was supposed to be better.

my brothers i7 2600k is running at 10-15% idle.

nvm i think its background programs.. both of our CPUs idle around 1% in safe mode.

Yeah, probably those background programs. My 2500k idles 1% on one core and bobs up to 5% sometimes. Although, 50% on two cores for background software still seems a bit high.
