Hey guys/gals.

I just had my CPU fan controller stop working on MSI Z77-G45. Don't know why but it just stop working when I put new fans for push/pull. So now I got to RMA and Im thinking about getting a high end board. I'm thinking about sabertooth and v pro or UD5. Can you please let me know what's best since I'm grabbing this tomorrow morning at 11am. Thanks. I'd prefer Asus but I'd like to hear others' opinions minus MSI.

It would depend on your budget and what you want to do with the board , Asus boards are very overclocking friendly and maybe the Sabertooth is a bit gimiky with that shield to cover the board. I don't know if it serves any practical purpose so I think a littlr lower priced board will give you the same features.

These two will give you just about the same features and are good solid boards.

As for Gigabyte these two would be compareable and the last one has the Thunderbolt port...

As for Gigabyte these two would be compareable and the last one has the Thunderbolt port which is a step up as far as features go, could be an interesting choice. There isn't much in the way of Thunderbolt parts and addons to choose from but it would give you some future proofing.

I like both manufacturer's boards. But I would have to give the nod to Asus... all else being equal. Nevertheless, being as how they are both fine boards, I would see which one has the features you most need. My second Z68XP-UD3P has been flawless so far, but the first one had to be RMA'd unfortunately.

You and I have been at this all day long it seems. I got the fan controller only for CPU Fan to fail. Won't even start. I like the dust proof construction for sabertooth. Wife might object to spending much but now she knows why I don't buy cheap stuff. I I might go for the V Pro/Thunderbolt. I was enraged when the CPU fan didn't come on. Tried and tried and failed all the time. Some people are having same issue. I will take a closer look but I like future proof stuff so the thunderbolt mobo might be it.

I'll def go with either UD5 or higher. That is Z77X-UD5H or higher or Sabertooth or higher. So will see. I'll make the decision by morning.

The fan port failed. When I plug it on other fan ports it works but not on CPU fan port itself.
