dell latitude d600 laptop when i power on the green lights flash then laptop goes off withou booting up have read it could be the memory sticks? anyone know how to test for this problem without just replacing them have tried reseating them and all the usual fixes,confused?

first off have someone (best buys..micro center or radio shack check the dc output of the power brick. most times when they go bad it a broken wire..a bad pin on the adaptor...or low voltage. if you have a friend that has the same ac adptore or pick up a cheap one local to try first. the other thing on your laptop to check is the power pin on the laptop..over time they do break off.
the other issue is you could have run out of battery power when the unit was asleep and it locked up. check on dell web page if there a key combo for a hard reset. or if there a reset jumper on the laptop.

sometimes it powers up to yhe dell screen then freezes but will try a dell adaptor just in case.cheers John.

if it boots up to dell screen and stops then look to the hard drive hanging the system.
