here's the deal. I'm a student. Last year me and boyfriend bought a gateway computer from compusa. It was the first computer we ever bought that came with a graphics card. Its a i5 650, 8gb ram, with a gt320 card. It runs great.

We plan on playing SWTOR when it comes out, and we need a second computer. The laptop I have for school is fun, but not functional. I know my first computer, while its impressive to me (Very used to onboard cards. I really like this thing!) is probably a joke.

Anyways, for the second computer, it needs to be as good as the first one. It can be better, but price is a major factor. I read the forums a lot and everybody insists I should build, that I'll save money. I look at your builds on here for 6-800 and they seem nice, but none of them include the windows 7! It's 100 bucks! Because of that, my limit is 700, possibly 750, since I gotta shell out that extra money for a OS. This is what I've put together. Tell me if it's as good as my first one, if I've left anything out (Do I need more cooling?) or if I made some silly decisions.

Note: I don't know how to overclock, I don't know what crossfiring is. I'm the average person with *slight* technical knowledge. I'm only building my computer because I don't want to spend 900 at compusa. I don't think I need two graphics cards. I really, really, am out of my depths there. I just want to play videogames with my boyfriend.

DO I need a dvd burner? Maybe thats a stupid questions...

Is this case large enough?

129.98 BUNDLE POWER AND HARD DRIVE
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.728993
maybe this is just too much power, but when I was younger, I upgraded my HP desktop by putting a graphics card in it to play world of warcraft better. my computer was okay for awhile, but later it broke. (the motherboard) I brought it to a technician and he said I should have upgraded the power with it. Silly mistake, but I never want to go through that again. Advice is wished.

What I currently have. But better? Sandy > i5 650

164.99 graphics card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102908
Its a radeon hd 6770. I think it can handle my game, but is it better than what I have right now? I don't want this new system to be subpar!!

154.99 MOBO http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157163
I didn't know how to pick a motherboard. I'm afraid of getting one too cheap, but I'm not looking for anything ridiculously good hear, just comparable to my other computer. Maybe I'll upgrade in the future.. but.. idunno.

I know a lot of these questions are probably stupid, but I'm sorry! If you have suggestions, let me know. I'm at 740.89 right now, so I'd like the price to not waver much, and go down if possible.

Thank you guys so much for the help!

So, the computer you are using is not the one you listed which is this?

Its a i5 650, 8gb ram, with a gt320 card.

If that's it, you can still play SWTOR. Have you seen the system requirements? You can play it with a $400 build lol

The one I listed is a computer I have. I need a second computer so me and my live-in boyfriend can play together. I want something at least better that what I had, so thats why I listed the specs of the first guy. :)

Sorry if it was confusing!

Oh darn, I forgot about that. I'm not really sure but I heard that there are some ways to get it to work but I'm not sure. What I would do is use your windows cd from the 1st computer then upgrade it. ^_^

You could scale down the power supply a bit if you want, to 500/550w. Just get a name brand, like Corsair, Antec, OCZ, PC Power And Cooling, etc, although my cheap Ultra has been good to me for 5 years.

The X58 chipset is a bit outdated. You should be looking into H67/P67/Z68. If you do video encoding, H67 is unbeatable with the right software, P67 for overclocking, Z68 for both.

Although, I would consider switching to an AMD cpu. The Phenom II x4 955(BE if you overclock), is almost $100 cheaper, but around 5% slower than your current i5. You'll be able to find a good mobo for less than $100 as well.

Since your not looking to trump your current build, consider the GTS 450, cheaper but still better than what you have. Its what I use and I play all my games at high settings (except for AA) @1080p.

So all together my proposed changes should save you around $200
